Gov ikpeazu : Attempt to remove me, a political coup.

Abia State Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has described the political imbroglio in the state as an attempted coup d’état which will make the state stronger at the end of the day.
Ikpeazu, said yesterday when executive members of the Abia State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, came on a solidarity visit, that the state will emerge stronger from the crisis, adding that those who attempted to remove him from office were those who were afraid of 2019 election.
According to him, they are politicians who knew that they will never win an election in a free and fair competition in the state.
Ikpeazu said that those who were after his seat are afraid of 2019 which is the reason behind their looking into the office through the window, and that they were people working against the unity of the state. He further explained that had they succeeded they would have thrown the state into anarchy that would have been difficult to come out from.
The governor maintained that the attempted coup shows that, “Elections are not won in Abuja which is not our state. If you want to win an election, you have to come to the state to battle it out properly, after campaigns and during election”.
He said: “The problem I faced in recent days was not a war against me but a war against the unity, equity, peace and progress of the state, including its well-being and that of its people.”
Earlier the state chairman of the Abia PDP, Chief Johnson Onuigbo, said that they came to the governor on a solidarity visit and to assure him that the entire members of the state executive of the party and its members are with him.
Onuigbo said that the vision of the governor for the state, which is to make it better than he met it will be realised, stressing that they will always be with him to ensure that his dream of making the state better is achieved.
The Abia PDP chairman said that by 2019 the party would have been taken back to the people, adding that, “we are going to win the 24 seats at the state House of Assembly, which is why they are after you and the party.”
He said that the attempted coup against the governor did not succeed because all the members of the state executive of the party are with him.
