For Delta State-born Kelvin Ayanruoh, it’s joy unlimited. The 24-years-old dancer, who came for auditions as a member of Elevators NG dance crew and was picked out by the judges to stand as a solo contestant, was yesterday crowned winner of Globacom-sponsored Dance with Peter reality TV show held at Bamako Studio, Ojodu, Lagos.
He beat his closest challengers, Mali Hot Boy, and third place winner, Ghanaian Julius Fakta to win the coveted crown of best dancer in West Africa. In fourth place was Amazing Amy, while Da Octopus finished fifth.
For emerging winner, Kelvin Ayanruoh drove home a new Toyota Rav 4 SUV and also got N3 million cash including an opportunity of featuring in P-Square’s next music video. First runner-up, Mali Hot Boy, went home with a Honda Civic car and N2 million cash while Julius Fakta got a Kia Rio car and N1 million cash prize. Both of them will also have a chance to feature in a top Glo ambassador’s music video.
With his victory in the highly contested show, Ayanruoh, who says his philosophy in life is “respect all and fear none” appears to be inching closer to his dream of being a top international choreographer.
Globacom launched Dance with Peter in August in partnership with Peter Okoye, the twin brother and partner in musical group, PSquare. According to Glo, it sponsored the show because of the need to promote the dance culture among Africans and assist those who may want to go into the dance profession to discover their potential.
Glo ambassador and entertainer, Dapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj, featured as guest judge on the show. He also performed along with Peter Okoye to the delight of the audience.
The public will have an opportunity to watch the grand finale of the show on African Independent Television (AIT) at 5pm today and on MTV Base on Wednesdays at 8pm.
