President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday evening met behind closed-doors with some members of the House of Representatives.
The lawmakers were led to the meeting held inside the Conference Hall of the First Lady’s Office inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja by Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila.
Gbajabiamila led 29 other lawmakers loyal to him to the meeting which started at about 9.55pm with the arrival of the President and the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
Those who attended were drawn from all the six geo-political zones.
The lawmakers were convened to the venue in two white Coaster buses.
Senator Abu Ibrahim from Katsina State who apparently brokered the meeting was introducing Gbajabiamila and his group to the President when journalists were asked to excuse them.
The meeting was still ongoing as of the time of filing this report at 10.19pm.
The meeting was part of efforts aimed at resolving the leadership crisis rocking the two chambers of the National Assembly.
Gbajabiamila was the All Progressives Congress’ choice for the post of the Speaker before Yakubu Dogara was elected.
