Ahead of the November 21 governorship election in Kogi State, the candidature of Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress received further boost yesterday with yet another adoption.
This is as the Kogi Central Senatorial District in a grand rally at Okene adopted the transport businessman turned politician as their political leader.
While addressing a mammoth crowd of supporters who trooped out to welcome him at the Dabras Open Field in Okene, Bello said: “The future of Kogi is even the more important today more than ever before because of the hope our young people place in the near future.
“For us to make Kogi State the real great state that it is, we must approach the issue of leadership with all seriousness and allow the wishes of the majority to prevail. Everyone in Kogi State should have a sense of participation in making the state achieve its true potentials,” the APC stalwart told his supporters.
Bello, owner of the FairPlus Transport service, one of Nigeria’s leading transporters, earlier in the day paid a courtesy call on the Ohinohi of Ebiraland, where he said he went to seek “fatherly blessings and pay homage to our traditional leader.”
The APC leader who keenly contested the last gubernatorial primary election under the APC in Kogi State but lost to Prince Abubakar Audu assured his teeming supporters of victory in the guber tussle while also appealing to them to desist from any acts of violence, insults and inciting statements capable of creating frictions in APC. He also charged them to remain resolute in the pursuit of the mandate. Leaders of Ebiraland who spoke at the occasion attested to Bello’s leadership acumen and unanimously adopted him as their political leader.
