Ondo Guber race: No plan to impose candidate - PDP.

Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied allegations that Governor Olusegun Mimiko, has anointed the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), as the party’s candidate in the November 26 governorship election.
This was disclosed yesterday by the party’s Youth Leader in the state, Mr. Abayomi Adebayo, at a meeting with all the youth leaders across the 18 local government areas of the state. Some aspirants and party youths under the auspices of North and South Senatorial Youth Campaigners (NSSYC) led by Mr Dele Ayeni have kicked against the planned imposition of a candidate on the party.
The NSSYC while accusing Governor Mimiko of imposing Mr. Jegede on the party alleged that the governor has also been hobnobbing politically with former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, for personal gains.
However, the PDP youth leaders while claiming that they have checked the registers of the party across the 18 council areas without any proof of the allegation, said the NSSYC was not part of their sister organisations. Adebayo said, “We want to set the record straight that Mr. Governor has not in any manner imposed any candidate on the party and that the party shall pick her candidate through legitimate primary election at a date to be announced by the National Secretariat of our great party soon.
“We also state further that the statement credited to the said Ayeni that Mr. Governor is working for the opposition party to deliver the state through a weakling to the opposition is not only mischievous and an outright falsehood but also a figment of his imagination.”
“We state most emphatically that the said Dele Ayeni is not known to the party in any capacity at all and as such lack the locus standi to speak on behalf of the youths of the PDP. The general public is hereby enjoined to disregard the unfortunate statement.”
