We are under pressure to sanctions Alimodu Sheriff and others - PDP.

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has said that it is under intense pressure to sanction factional national chairman of the party, Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff and those supporting him.
The party said this while speaking with journalists after the inauguration of its 89-man zoning committee, which is headed by the Governor of Ebonyi State, Mr. Dave Umahi.
The zoning committee is saddled with the responsibility of allotting national offices  to the six get-political zones in the country, which are to be contested at the party’s national convention slated for August 17, in Port Harcourt.
The party had already zoned the office of the national chairman to the southern part of the country while the northern part is to produce its 2019 presidential candidate.
Addressing journalists shortly after the inauguration, the spokesman for the National Caretaker Committee of the party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye said that “the committee has been under pressure to wield the big stick against Sheriff and his group.
“But we will continue to extend the olive branch after all it is yielding result.‎
“Sheriff cannot be bigger than the party. The decision of the convention is greater than Sheriff and others.
“The demand of Sheriff that the caretaker committee should resign cannot be met. Nigerians have seen what Sheriff and his group are doing as the greatest act of sabotage.”
