Gov Aregbesola named UNIOSUN after late Bola Ige.

Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola on Wednesday named the Osun State University after the first governor of the old Oyo State, Chief Bola Ige.
Aregbesola announced the change of the name of the university during his speech at the school’s 4th and 5th convocation and the installation of Mrs. Folorunso Alakija as the Chancellor of the institution.
Aregbesola, who is the Visitor to the university, also announced the renaming of some faculties as well as other higher institutions in the state. The College of Law at Ifetedo as Kayode Esho College of Law while the College of Social Sciences and Management in Okuku was renamed Olagunsoye Oyinlola College of Social Sciences.
The College of Agriculture in Ejigbo is now known as Isiaka Adeleke College of Agriculture, while the College of Education in Ipetu Ijesa is now Ezekiah Oluwasanmi College of Education. The College of Humanities and Culture, Ikire, was renamed Eniola Atanda College of Humanities and Culture.
Also, the Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, was renamed Bisi Akande College of Technology; Osun State Polytechnic, Iree is now known as Sunday Afolabi Polytechnic; College Of Education, Ila Orangun was renamed Adeyemi Oyeduntan College of Education and the College of Education Ilesa was renamed Lawrence Omole College of Education.
Aregbesola urged UNIOSUN to affect the people of its environment in   teaching and research.
Alakija said, “I feel extremely humbled, proud and excited to be receiving this conferment as Chancellor. I also appreciate the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration (Honoris Causa), which came in as a surprise.”
The acting Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Jelil Oguntola, said the institution produced 24 first class graduates in the set of 2014-2015.
He said, “Osun State University continues to sustain its reputation as an institution established to promote academic and moral standard.”
Peter Daniel from the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department emerged as the best overall graduate with a CGPA of 4.81.
